Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Topping

  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon for topping

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9x5 inch loaf pans.
  • In a bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon until well combined.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, sour cream, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla until smooth and creamy.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing gently until just combined—be careful not to overmix!
  • In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar and the remaining ½ teaspoon of cinnamon together for a delightful topping.

Baking

  • Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pans, sprinkle half of the cinnamon sugar mixture over it, add the remaining batter, and top with the rest of the cinnamon sugar mixture.
  • Bake for 60-70 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Allow to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

You can prepare the batter in advance and store it in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours. This bread is best enjoyed fresh but can last up to 3 days at room temperature or 3 months when frozen. Use a serrated bread knife for clean, even slices.
