Preparation

  • In a large bowl, combine the sourdough starter, apple cider, water, and sugar. Mix until well combined and bubbly.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg until evenly mixed.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until a sticky dough forms.
  • Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
  • Transfer the dough to a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise for 4-6 hours, or until doubled in size.
  • Once risen, shape the dough into a loaf and place it in a greased loaf pan. Let it rise again for about 2 hours.
  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
  • Allow the bread to cool before slicing.
